The Spanish Government Issues State of Emergency

Storm Filomena has led to one of the worst snowstorms to hit the country in 50 years. By the end of Friday night over 50cm had fallen, with more snow falling both Friday night and throughout Saturday.

The Spanish Government has urged people to remain at home, after at least 3 people have died, and thousands of motorists being stranded due to the weather conditions.

As the storms begins to fade, the temperatures are expected to fall further for 2-3 days, as clearer skies are allowed to form. This will lead to the snow turning into large lumps of ice, increasing the risk and time to clear.
